Like getting run over by a steamroller, the 11-track release by Long Island's Car Bomb renders an assaultive experience from the get-go. While many may reference Meshuggah and Ion Dissonance upon a brief listen (both are right on the money), this band owes much of their precise mathematical metal to bands such as Mr. Bungle, Candiria, and The Dillinger Escape Plan as well, as this quartet's un-melodic yet strangely cohesive compositions gather the most crushing elements from each of the aforementioned, throw it into a centrifuge set on high, and allow the machine to whip the musical style into a virtual frenzy on cuts such as "Cellophane Stlletto" and "M-6". Not for the average listener, Car Bomb's lack of hooks and emphasis on complete destruction is tailor made for those who enjoy the carnage that their precise yet avant garde outpouring of metallic insanity yields.
