German metal band Atrocity bring the gloom and doom to '80s synth-pop and Top 40 hits on WERK 80 II, the veteran outfit's latest excursion. This disc is a follow-up to the band's 1997 release of solely cover tunes in the same stylistic vein, complete with low Gothic vocals, industrial-esque interpretations, keyboard overlays aplenty, and overworked cover tunes that bring out the Rammstein in hits like "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. While a few tracks standout (a particularly weepy version of "Forever Young" by Alphaville for one), sadly much of this disc goes down as rough as a late night showing of a bad '80s B-movie after a few too many taquitos.
