The latest five-track offering by Texan one-man black metal band Brown Jenkins follows a few easy guidelines: keep it simple, build thick atmospheres, and let the guitars lead the charge. In fact, the guitar is such a prominent fixture within the infrastructure of DAGONITE that much of this sans vocals release relies on the massive buzzings for just about everything, allowing the six-string to facilitate the dense overall sound heard on "Aeons of Crawling" in addition to holding down the melody lines across the entire EP. Casting an eerie aura thanks to the doom metal vibe permeating through the deliberately mechanical drums that transform Into complimentary unorthodox time signature shifts, this barrage of fuzzed-out guitars and drone tempos projects an uncomfortable listening experience full of hypnotic warps and dastardly dissonance.
