The debut solo offering by David Lightbourn showcases this Queens, NY singer’s amalgamation of the dark end of modern rock and the heavier side of the electronic oriented music spectrum, employing a slew of atmospheric synth work as often as throwing down heavy guitars and thunderous percussion (“Vanity”) across this 11-track disc’s duration. At times sounding like a cross between electronica and down tempo (“Me and My Shadow”, “Loveless and Disarmed”) while sprinkling noticeable hip-hop influence (“Freedom”, “Enjoy Your Sleep”), Lightbourn provides stylistic shakes up quite a bit here yet manages to retain a predominant synthetic pulse allowing his vocal flow to switch up between streetwise rap to angst-ridden rock without skipping a sampled beat.
