Two of Pennsylvania’s more expedient and abrasive bands team up for a split 7” release, as Backslider from The City of Brotherly Love and Nimbus Terrifix from Scranton join forces to share their metallic viewpoints with nine-tracks running a little over 11 minutes. Up first is Backslider, a slow and low guitar and drum duo whose hazy take on hardcore punk fluctuates in between blistering grind, caustic crust and deliberately paced doom metal. Nimbus Terrifix enters next with a lot more static and chaos, striking with spiky riffs and spastic rhythms with an alarming array of elasticity that stretches from floor punching hardcore to adventurously composed punk-tinged freakouts brazen with odd time signatures and a freewheeling vocalist at the helm. If you dig heavy music that borders on crazy and have 11 minutes to spare, this split release will hit the spot.
