Ancestors take a radical turn towards psychedelic rock on their latest three-song endeavor INVISIBLE WHITE. This Los Angeles based unit decreases their metallic output dramatically in favor of a trip-laden, discernibly mellower Pink Floyd-esque flavor (“Epilogue”), completed by a wealth of soothing atmospheric keyboards and a pronounced set of echoed vocals (“Dust”) prominently displayed in each song’s fabric. Despite featuring only three songs, two of the songs run over seven minutes while the last clocks in a little over 14 minutes, definitely giving listeners a bang for their buck. Comprising a hypnotically repetitive post metal vibe with trip-laden experimental overtones, Ancestors may be deemed a bit too complacent for the average metal fan for those with patience and a predilection of the avant-garde are bound to find common ground here.
