Infamous underground producer Billy Anderson changes hats and gets out of the chair and in front of an amplifier and a microphone in Blessing The Hogs, a brutal metal outfit from San Francisco. On the 11-track opus known as THE POISONING, the guitars shred with an unbridled drop tuned ferocity while the rest of the music follows suit, making for a pulverizing excursion into true heavy music. Consisting of more sludge than a Louisiana swampground, songs like "Meronium" exist merely to show mankind how dense and dark this quartet can get. Emulating bands like Converge, Bloodlet and Isis, yet retaining its own special stamp on monstrous stomp, Blessing The Hogs creates a destructive atmosphere that will crush your puny skull and shatter your illusion of what heavy music really is.
